Simply put, the mechanical hard drive is nearly dead. When people have to buy a hard drive, it is almost always SSDs. About the only thing keeping mechanical hard drives alive are the fact they are cheaper per TB? than SSD?s. However, Kaldus will be seeking to eliminate the mechanical hard drive completely. Kaldus will work with SSD manufacturers to provide for 3.5″ SSDs that would fit in NAS?, and media servers. While there are NAS that supports 2.5″ drives, they are more focused on 3.5″ drives.
Once SSDs become a reliable source of drives to provide for NASs and media servers, then there will be no mechanical hard drive sold in Kaldus. Mechanical hard drives will always be cheaper than SSDs until memory chip production goes on scale that Kaldus will hope for.
